More than 30 Redemptorists of the Denver Province convened at the Redemptorist Retreat Center in Oconomowoc for a pivotal leadership conference this week. Fr. Jerome Chavarria, North American Conference Coordinator, also participated, and presented the Conference's work and the process toward unification.
The serene scenery and pleasant weather at the retreat center set the stage for a productive three-day meeting. The conference began on Tuesday with Morning Prayer on the theme, “We are called to be humble servants,” marked by a report and presentation by Fr. Kevin Zubel, Provincial Superior, on “Meaningful Conversations.”
Participants had ample time to delve into leadership in a time of change through various presentations. They also received a report from Fr. Aaron Meszaros, Provincial Vicar, on individual and community reflections related to Redemptorist ministries. The conference was enriched by a presentation, “Leadership Models and the Synodal Experience,” from Barbara Fleischer, guest speaker.
Amidst the serious discussions, the community found joy in celebrating the birthdays of Fr. Larry Sanders, Fr. Tat Hoang, and Fr. Jerome Chavarria. The evening meal on May 29 was a heartwarming sight with three different birthday cakes, symbolizing our shared celebrations and bonds.
The meeting concluded on Thursday with a special tribute to Fr. Tuan Pham, who celebrated the Liturgy of the Eucharist in honor of his 25th anniversary of ordination. This significant milestone in his journey was marked with reverence and joy. Congratulations to Fr. Tuan Pham on this special occasion. May his dedication continue to inspire us.
Heartfelt thanks were extended to Fr. Ted Lawson and the warm and welcoming Oconomowoc community for their exceptional hospitality. Their generosity and kindness made the conference a truly memorable experience.
