The North American Conference of Redemptorists is currently meeting at San Alfonso Retreat House in New Jersey. The purpose of the gathering is to implement Phase III of the 26th General Chapter. The meeting began with a review of the objectives of Phase III: 1) the Education component; 2) the Plan of the General Government for the next sexennium; 3) the Emotional component; and 4) Future planning.
Topics under discussion included Ignite Youth Ministry, the Mexican Border Project, the Caribbean Preaching Project and Partners in Mission.
There has been a focus on shared mission and implementing different themes over the course of the current sexennium: Community Life (2023), Formation (2024), Mission (2025), Leadership (2026), Spirituality (2027) and Revision (2028).
The second day of the meetings included dividing the membership into five small groups. Each group was provided with a specific topic to analyze and discuss. Topics included Redemptorist Identity, Redemptorist mission, Redemptorist Religious Life, Formation for Redemptorist Mission and Redemptorist Leadership and Governance.
Following the small group discussions, the entire membership met in a plenary session to discuss the reports of the five small groups.
All five provinces within North America are represented: Baltimore, Canada, Denver, Extra-Patriam and Mexico. Also present is Superior General Rogerio Gomes, C.Ss.R.
