As every winter rolls around, the Ignite Ministry Team at St. Patrick’s Church in Toronto looks forward to the opportunity to welcoming engaged and married couples for an evening of great food, wine, and stimulating conversation all focused around the couple. Table 4 Two is an evening meant for couples to celebrate, enliven and to honour each other. Focused around a quaint romantic evening, the couple share in a well prepared four course meal, served with questions at are meant to guide the couple through moments of reflection, sharing from the heart and foster their growth in intimacy with one another rand with God.
This year, among our 21 couples who attend, all were married couples, many of whom have been coming to Table 4 Two for some time. Some couples were recently married, while one couple was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this year. Whether couples have been married a short or long time, they all receive questions that spark their conversation. A few couples this year have participated in the annual dinner for their 9th time. Each year they would have seen new and challenging questions! Hopefully they will be back for the 10th time next year.
Every year, we are blessed to have a couple who has been coming to Table 4 Two to share their story and testimony about their journey as a couple, their courtship and marriage, along with the joys and struggles that they have encountered along the way. The couple expressed the blessings of their journey with their spiritual life, and how they took to heart the invitation to enter into their commitment of marriage with God by their side, and how that has been important to them as they have raised their family.
Behind the organization of this event is an excellent team of parishioners, young adult Ignite leaders and high school students who work to make the event such a success. It is a real team effort and is always the highlight of the season. It is always the worthwhile events that take a lot of work, but the payoff is seeing that by the end of the night couples are well fed, have smiles on their faces, and hold the promise to come back the following year on their hearts!
